HOS247 ELD Review 2026: Pricing, Pros and Cons
Rules, prices and device details on this page were checked October 2026 against the official sources listed at the bottom. Where a provider doesn't publish a number, we say so instead of guessing.
HOS247 is a California based ELD provider that does something a lot of bigger names won't: it puts its prices on its website and doesn't make you sign a contract. That alone puts it on the shortlist for many owner operators and small fleets. But price isn't everything, so we dug into the plans, the hardware, the apps and the fine print. Everything here comes from HOS247's own pages and the FMCSA ELD list, checked October 2026.
Overview
HOS247 sells an FMCSA registered ELD that pairs a small plug in device with a driver app on your own phone or tablet. On top of the logbook, it offers GPS tracking, IFTA mileage, trailer tracking, CARB Clean Truck Check testing and a dashcam line listed as coming soon. The company is based in Mill Valley, California.
Its registration details are public. HOS247 lists the device as HOS247 ELD, model FLT2, with ELD identifier ELD247, and the device appears on FMCSA's registered list. You can always confirm a provider yourself on the FMCSA registered ELD list.

Pricing Plans
HOS247 has three ELD plans and two bundles that add telematics. Here's what each includes, from the pricing page.
| Plan | Price per vehicle per month | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| ELD Compliance | $19 | Electronic logbook, electronic DVIR, fleet manager portal |
| ELD Track | $22 | Everything above plus ELD based vehicle tracking |
| ELD Plus | $25 | Everything above plus IFTA reporting |
| ELD TeleTrack | $35 | ELD Plus features plus telematics vehicle tracking with a separate GPS device |
| ELD TeleTrack CARB | $40 | TeleTrack features plus CARB Clean Truck Check testing |
What does a year actually cost? For one truck on ELD Compliance paid annually, it's 12 times $19, or $228, with the device included. Five trucks on ELD Plus paid annually comes to $1,500 a year. Our ELD cost calculator does this math for any fleet size.
Hardware Options
The hardware pricing depends on how you pay:
- Logging device: free if you pay for a year of service, or $79 per device if you pay monthly.
- GPS tracking device (TeleTrack plans): free with annual payment, or $69 if you pay monthly.
- Telematics ELD device (TeleTrack CARB): free with annual payment, or $149 if you pay monthly.
HOS247 says its device plugs into standard 6 pin, 9 pin or OBD-II diagnostic ports and connects to the phone by Bluetooth or USB. It also offers optional tablets with data if you don't want drivers using their own phones. Some newer Mack and Volvo trucks need a specific cable, which HOS247 sorts out when you order, so tell them your truck's make and year.
Because drivers usually use their own devices, remember the mounting rule. Under 49 CFR 395.22(g), a portable ELD has to be mounted in a fixed position while the truck is moving and visible from the driver's seat. Our BYOD ELD guide covers mounts and power.
Driver App
The HOS247 driver app runs on Android and iOS. According to HOS247, it covers:
- Automatic HOS calculations with alerts before you run out of hours
- Log management and editing, with edits handled the way the ELD rule requires
- Electronic DVIRs that drivers create in the app and managers see in the portal
- Roadside inspection tools to send logs to an officer
Drivers also get onboarding training over the phone, which is a nice touch for anyone new to e-logs. The app is focused on compliance rather than extras, which most drivers will see as a plus. If you want a broader comparison of driver apps, see our list of the best ELD apps.
Fleet Manager Tools
Every plan includes the fleet manager portal. Features HOS247 lists include:
- HOS compliance monitoring, with the ability to view and edit driver logs and inspections
- Real time GPS and location history on tracking plans
- IFTA state mileage calculations on ELD Plus and above
- Access permissions for managers, compliance staff, drivers, accountants, brokers and customers
- Vehicle diagnostics with fault code alerts
- Preventive maintenance scheduling
IFTA features
IFTA reporting starts on the $25 ELD Plus plan. The ELD records miles by state automatically, which saves a lot of manual trip sheet work at quarter end. You'll still need to keep your fuel receipts, since the ELD tracks miles, not fuel bought. Our IFTA reporting guide explains what records you need.
Integrations
HOS247 lists integrations with load visibility and broker tools such as Trucker Tools, Descartes MacroPoint, project44 and Highway, TMS options like SmartHop and Ninja TMS, and insurance and data platforms like TruckerCloud and Cover Whale. For a small fleet that hauls brokered freight, those visibility connections can save a lot of check calls.
Support
Support is a big part of HOS247's pitch. The company says it offers support 7 days a week by phone, email, online chat and a self service help center. It also says it assigns a dedicated support manager to help with installation, onboarding, compliance questions and troubleshooting, and that its team speaks English, Spanish, Russian and Polish. The sales line is 650-405-3372.
We haven't run a long term support test, so treat this as what HOS247 promises. Before you buy, call the support line at an odd hour and see how fast someone picks up. It's the cheapest test you'll ever run.
Contract Terms
HOS247's pricing page says no contracts, with plans for fleets from 1 to 500 vehicles. That's a real advantage over providers that lock you into multi year deals. Two things to keep in mind:
- The free hardware depends on annual payment. If you pay monthly, you buy the device. Paying annually means paying a year up front.
- Returns have a short window. HOS247's return policy allows returns for any reason within 14 calendar days of delivery, only for items bought directly from hos247.com. Items need to come back complete and in like new condition.
Read the current terms of use before you sign up, since policies can change.
Getting Started
Setup is about as simple as ELDs get. You order online or by phone, pick monthly or annual billing, and HOS247 ships the device. Plug it into the diagnostic port, install the app on each driver's phone, log in and pair. Then do a short yard test to make sure driving status switches on its own and the portal shows the truck. Before the first trip, print or save the in cab packet: the user manual, the data transfer instructions, the malfunction instructions and at least 8 days of blank paper logs, as 395.22(h) requires. Finally, have each driver send a practice roadside transfer so nobody is learning it in front of an officer.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Published prices from $19 per vehicle per month
- No contracts
- Free hardware with annual payment
- Works with your own phone or tablet
- IFTA, tracking and CARB testing available as you grow
- Multilingual support, 7 days a week
Cons
- Monthly payers pay $79 or more for hardware
- Fewer advanced safety and video features than big platforms like Motive or Samsara
- Dashcams were still listed as coming soon when we checked
- Short 14 day return window
Verdict
HOS247 is a strong pick for owner operators and small to midsize fleets that want straightforward compliance at a price they can see before they call. The no contract terms and free hardware on annual plans make it low risk. If you need AI dashcams, driver coaching and deep analytics, look at a bigger platform instead, and be ready for a quote and a contract.
