Revoked ELDs List: Devices Removed by FMCSA

Rules, prices and device details on this page were checked October 2026 against the official sources listed at the bottom. Where a provider doesn't publish a number, we say so instead of guessing.

If your ELD is on FMCSA's revoked list, it no longer counts as an ELD. Your drivers can be cited and put out of service once the replacement window closes. And 2026 has been a busy year for removals. Here's the latest list we could verify, what carriers have to do, and how to pick a provider that won't leave you scrambling. Checked October 2026 on FMCSA's ELD site and newsroom.

Current Revoked Devices

These are the recent removals FMCSA announced. Always confirm your exact model and identifier on FMCSA's revoked list, since names can be similar.

Earlier in 2026

  • June 23, 2026: TRUCKSTAFF (TRS227), with out of service enforcement from August 23, 2026.
  • May 20, 2026: FMCSA announced 12 devices removed, with out of service enforcement from July 20, 2026. Check FMCSA's revoked list for the full names and identifiers.

What Carriers Must Do

If you're using a revoked device, here's what FMCSA expects:

  1. Stop using it as your ELD. Once revoked, it doesn't meet the rule.
  2. Go back to paper logs or another compliant method of recording HOS until you have a registered ELD.
  3. Replace the device with one on the registered list before the deadline.
  4. Keep your records. Download your old logs before the provider cuts access. Carriers must keep RODS and supporting documents for 6 months under 395.8(k).

After the deadline, enforcement can cite 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1), for not using a compliant ELD, and 395.22(a), the carrier's responsibility to require it. Drivers can be placed out of service under CVSA's out of service criteria.

The 60 Day Replacement Window

FMCSA typically gives carriers 60 days from the revocation announcement to switch to a registered ELD. That's why the August 6 removals had an October 6 deadline, and the July 9 removals had out of service enforcement starting September 8.

Paper logs in the meantime

During those 60 days, carriers should switch to paper logs or another compliant method. Make sure drivers know how to fill out a paper log correctly. Many newer drivers have never used one. Keep enough blank logs in each truck to cover the trip.

Don't wait until day 59

Ordering, shipping, installing and training takes time, especially for a fleet. Start the switch the week you hear about the revocation. Our guide to the FMCSA registered ELD list explains how to verify a replacement.

Notification Process

Here's how carriers usually find out:

  • FMCSA announcements. FMCSA posts revocations on its ELD News and Events page and in its newsroom.
  • Email updates. FMCSA offers ELD email sign ups. Subscribe so you hear about revocations right away.
  • Your provider. A provider facing revocation may notify customers, but don't count on it.
  • Roadside. The worst way: an officer tells you during an inspection.

Before a device is revoked, FMCSA generally notifies the provider and gives it a chance to fix the problem. If it doesn't, the device is removed.

Why Devices Get Revoked

FMCSA doesn't always publish detailed reasons, but revocations happen when a device is found not to meet the technical specifications in the ELD rule. That can include problems with how the device records driving time, how it handles edits, or how it transfers data at roadside. Some providers also self revoke, for example when they stop supporting a product. Either way, the result for carriers is the same: the device no longer counts.

How to Avoid a Revoked Provider

You can't predict every revocation, but you can lower your risk a lot:

  • Check the revoked list for the company, not just the device. A provider with past revocations is a warning sign.
  • Look for a track record. Established providers with years of history and real support teams are less likely to vanish.
  • Be wary of prices that seem too good. Many recently revoked devices came from small, little known providers.
  • Check the details on the registered list. A complete entry with a user manual, clear transfer steps and malfunction details is a good sign.
  • Ask about data export. If the provider goes away, can you get your logs out?

Vetting questions

  • How long have you been registered with FMCSA?
  • Have any of your devices ever been revoked?
  • How do I export 6 months of logs if I leave?
  • Who do I call at 2 a.m. if roadside transfer fails?
